Man: the story so far

Article Abstract:

Charles Darwin believed that humans developed brains as human culture developed, while later scientists believe that primitive men have brains as developed as those of modern men. A view has developed of humans as animals which are trapped by their evolutionary past, and this past creates problems in modern society. Social anthropology sees humans as having potential which can be brought into play by different types of society and relationships with other humans.
