Nappy clue to happy old age

Article Abstract:

Avan Sayer's research seems to suggest that poor foetal development and a low birth weight could be a predictor of several symptoms of ageing. Sayer has analysed data on babies born in north Hertfordshire in the 1920s and 1930s. After adjusting for underlying risk factors linked to social class, Sayer found that smaller babies went on to have a higher risk of lens opacity, which can be a predictor of cataracts. Smaller babies also went on to show a much lower grip strength in their 60s and 70s, to have poorer hearing when old age began, and to develop more paper-like skin.

Sex and the single-minded

Undergraduates in Hong Kong are serious about their studies, and tend to have conservative, conventional attitudes. They regard themselves as preserving the honour of their family, and most avoid casual relationships. University life is very career-oriented, and premarital sex is generally scorned.
