Now games fans can console themselves

As sales of computer games continue to increase, educational institutions in the UK are attempting to cash in on the boom by investing in computer games technology courses. Universities that have already established such courses have found that they are a good investment, with an high level of interest from potential students and the possibility of recouping the initial investment through spin-off activities.

Redbricks get thumbs down

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the results of the first national survey of student satisfaction in the United Kingdom. The survey revealed that a number of the redbrick universities performed poorly in the eyes of their students in a number of disciplines, with large research universities coming bottom in satisfaction scores in several subjects.

Hefce: give us power over cull

Acting chief executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce) has admitted to MPs that he would like more power to prevent universities from closing science departments. The admission comes after Sussex University's controversial decision to cut its chemistry department.
