Opening up education: Changing teacher-pupil relations

Article Abstract:

The current format of the schools is described as a static format wherein the teachers speak and the students listen, in a factory like setting. It is believed that a number of social factors are prevailing now which sustains the alternative to the existing form of schooling, and the current style of learning be taken from the educators and be handed over to the learners.

Redesigning schools: Getting small schools

Article Abstract:

The effort to create five smaller schools from one larger one and the challenges included trying to accommodate students who were in advanced classes in the larger school with the less interested students of smaller schools. It is proposed that the challenges came from the newly assigned teachers and from the parents who were happy with the larger schools.
