Outsiders looking in

Article Abstract:

The Office for Standards for Education and Training (OFSTED) has an important role in helping to improve the quality of education in further education colleges, in the UK. The colleges will find an external evaluation of their work useful and challenging. Although many colleges already carry out their own reviews an independent assessment can look at everything with a fresh view. It is likely the UK government will ask for OFSTED inspections to be carried out in colleges.

From cradle to coffin...

Article Abstract:

UK students take on a range of summer jobs during their vacation period. Some work in bars and restuarants and others take on unusual jobs such as providing entertainment at leisure centers. One student worked at Camp America and had her travel expenses paid. Students may take on a number of small jobs such as work on a construction site or work filling envelopes. They may also work in jobs that are relevant to their future careers, on newspapers for example.

Blood-thirsty outsiders are coming out of the coffin

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning modern "real vampires" - people who share a thirst for blood, often have nocturnal tendencies and are sensitive to sunlight - and their mythical ancestors are examined from a psychological point of view. It is suggested that one of the appeals of vampirism is the sense of being an outsider and not quite fitting in with the rest of society.
