Owen's war just a click away

Article Abstract:

The Wilfred Owen Multimedia Digital Archive has been launched by Oxford University as a resource for researchers and teachers of literature and modern history. The archive incorporates material previously held by the Public Record Office, British Library and Oxford University, and includes historical material from the Imperial War Museum. The development of draft manuscripts is presented, together with video and audio excerpts, Owen's war service records and letters. The use of historical images allows the poetry to be perceived in a historical and psychological context.

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom financial services industry can offer career opportunities to PhD graduates. Research, information technology and analysis need the skills that PhD graduates can offer, and there are intellectual challenges for the graduates to tackle. Maths and physics backgrounds are especially useful, though statistics, information technology and modeling skills are also needed. Salaries vary a great deal, but some graduates can earn large amounts.

Science PhD graduates have many diverse career options open to them and should scan newspapers to ascertain the variety of jobs available. Options include science publishing, carrying out environmental research for a theme park, journalism, patent work, web-editing, public relations, technical writing, advertising for science-based firms, statistician, policy researcher, parliamentary researcher and project administrator.
