Paris campus in asbestos risk

Article Abstract:

The asbestos contamination at Jussieu University in Paris, France, will cost 100 million pounds to make the buildings safe, and is thought to be the greatest problem of this nature in the world. The clean-up operation is particularly complex because all functions of the university need to continue while the work is carried out because no suitable alternative accommodation is available. The French government has yet to provide funds for the project, although the request for urgent funding was submitted in Nov. 1995.
