Postdocs cover for teaching shortfall

Article Abstract:

There is an army of postgraduate and postdoctora; students in old universities shouldering much of the teaching burden. Most lectures are led by academics in new and old universities, but only some 70 percent of seminars and tutorials in old universities are led by academics, vs 92 percent and 93 percent respectively in new universities.

One-off payouts hit pound sterling 125k

Article Abstract:

Survey of vice-chancellor's pay reveals that large pension contributions to university chiefs are rising, with payments being as high as pound sterling 126,000 in 2005-06. Higher Education Funding Council for England stated that universities should not inflate salaries prior to retirement.

Morris praises learning per se
