Protracted investigations

Article Abstract:

Longitudinal research studies allow an examination of the long-term impact of behaviour, pollutants, and other factors affecting health, but such methods are time consuming and relatively expensive, and there is a risk that findings could be outdated. Despite the risks, the benefits make such studies worth while, since memory is less of a problem if prior records are available. Useful studies include the effect of preschool programs on later life, including teenage and adult years. There may be a threat to these methods from data protection legislation, but demand is likely to continue due to their usefulness.

Spoonfeeding is no fun

Article Abstract:

The general national vocational qualification (GNVQ) in science requires students to work through assignments of varying levels of difficulty. Students will work on the sections with staff help and will be organising their own learning. Research has shown that students working in this way enjoyed their studies. A happy family life and a high level of concentration were found in those students who achieved well in class.
