Public information: everybody's job

Article Abstract:

The Public Information Division and the National Association of Vocational-Technical Education Communicators (NAVTEC) are informing the public of the benefits of vocational-technical education. In addition, NAVTEC aims to enhance the image of vocational-technical education in order to attract students to pusue vocational courses. It hosts annual conferences which feature prominent speakers and publishes a national newsletter for its members. It also encourages vocational educators to do their part in promoting vocational education to ensure its survival and development.

Eye candy: naturally, the food you see on film is larger than life

Article Abstract:

'Soul Food' and 'Big Night' are the first films with an American setting that are preoccupied with food. Movie food recipes are; 'Big Night' timpano, a pasta and meatball dish, roast suckling pig al la 'Grand Bouffe,' and from 'Babette's Feast,' cailles en sarcophage, puff pastry with quail and figs.

One of the exhibits in the newly opened US Holocaust Memorial Museum features a three story tower with walls covered by the photographs of former residents of Ejszyszki, Poland, a Jewish village destroyed by the Nazis. The photographs celebrate their life, not their death.
