Putting on a brave face

Article Abstract:

The identity of the ethnic group known as Native Americans is strengthening despite the increasing rate of decline of their language. Some 20 Native American languages were spoken by all ages in 1992 compared to around 62 when Europeans first made contact. Many more people are acknowledging their Native American roots. The naming of the ethnic group known as Native Americans has been problematic, they often call themselves 'Indians.' The costume of the Native Americans has become uniform for all tribes rather than retaining their individual identities.
