Article Abstract:

The RoSPA's 'Director Action on Safety and Health' (DASH) aims to raise the participation of senior management in their corporate health and safety policy. Although the UK ranks tops in occupational health and safety worldwide, small and medium-sized companies continue to report higher accident rates than their larger counterparts. Work-related accidents and ill health are estimated to cost the UK 11 billion pounds sterling.

Safe sex, safer publishers

Article Abstract:

Publishers have a key role to play in the promotion of safe sex. Safe sex materials provide information in a very indirect way. Although the best way of avoiding AIDS is to perform non-penetrative sex, governmental agencies cannot be seen to be promoting this. Safer sex materials are targeted at different groups, such as 'gay men', but these groups are fictitious.

Advances in tumor imaging

Three-dimensional multi-modality display and computer-aided diagnosis are two new cancer-detection techniques. Physicians can use these technologies in conjunction with surgery and tissue-sample examination in diagnosing cancer.
