Serb academia merits support despite regime

Article Abstract:

Apolitical academics from the University of Belgrade are seeking international support for the Alternative Academic Education Network (AAEN) which aims to consider new ideas from within a free intellectual environment. The AAEN is not a subversive group and does not seek to produce dissidents, although it was established in light of attacks on academics critical of Serb President Slobodan Milosevic. The AAEN hopes to provide a democratic learning environment for intelligent youngsters and is seeking professional, as opposed to political, assistance from their counterparts overseas.

Real men will always head for the shed

Article Abstract:

The concept of 'bloke-ism' is making a comeback, typifying men with manly pastimes and interests like repairing gadgets in a garden shed. Several books including "Dangerous Book for Boys" and "Air Recognition" on blokes enable readers to get to know about them again, having been overshadowed by feminism since the end of the 1970s.
