Should sexuality be considered a basic human rights issue?

Article Abstract:

A group of academics founded the International Assn. for the Study of Sexuality and Culture in Society in 1997 to press for international recognition of the connection between sexual choice and human rights. The connections between sexuality and human rights will be examined at a conference at Manchester Metropolitan University on Jul. 21-24, 1999. Sociology lecturer Gail Hawkes points out that the difference in the age of consent for heterosexuals and homosexuals in the UK is denying people true freedom of choice in sexual expression.
