'Some people won't shake my hand because I'm Israeli'

Article Abstract:

Issues relating to the misconceptions that many Israeli students believe people in the United Kingdom have about the situation in the Middle East are examined. Uri Enoch, an Israeli studying mathematics at Manchester University, believes that the average British person only has a limited understanding of the background to the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians, while Tomer Schwarz, law undergraduate at Cambridge and acting chairperson of the Union of Israeli Students in the UK, claims that British people's misunderstanding of the situation goes beyond ignorance and is a result of a media bias that portrays the Israelis as occupiers and the Palestinians as the oppressed.
