Paid work takes toll on class of degree

Article Abstract:

Students who undertake paid employment during term time are putting the outcome of their degree at risk, according to a study from the Centre for Higher Education Research and Information. The study found that the greater the amount of time spent working by a student, the worse their academic performance was likely to be, and that there is no threshold or limit below which there is no negative effect of working during term time.

'Vocal minority' could ruin faculty reputations

Article Abstract:

Views of 20 students could soon be sufficient to make or break the reputation of university departments and the academics working in them. This comes amid plans to reform the National Student Survey, in which, until now, results have not been published unless at least 50 percent of students on a course, or at least 30 students, have responded.
