TV tycoon backs Cambridge IP bid

Article Abstract:

Doug Richard, a business expert and one of the stars of BBC Two show "Dragon's Den", has expressed his support for Cambridge University's planned intellectual property (IP) reforms, arguing that it is an academic's duty to hand over a share of their IP rights. Opponents to the university's plans, which would give the university control over all patents gained by its staff, argue that they will undermine the university's place as one of the world's leading research institutes.
