Ten theses: thoughts on communitarianism

Article Abstract:

Ten points clarify the concept of community and communitarianism: communities are not based on a single model; they are not created out of nostalgia; they have diverse activities and are autonomous with choices; they consist of individuals and thus make up a cosmopolitan diversity; the moral majority and the issue on cultural identity follows the precepts of diversity, but still rules without forcibly integrating the minority; both critical and conventional morality interact in a dynamic discourse; and the diversity of interests and values make a community healthy.

Loyalty's only skin-deep

Article Abstract:

The UK as a whole is almost as divided as the Conservative party itself over the country's relations with the European Union. However, it seems that in both cases the convinced Europeanists are losing the battle, and all Conservative constituency associations are at least cautious about appearing to positive about European integration, if not openly hostile to the concept. The pro-Europeans used to be in the majority in the Conservative party, but they are now being portrayed in the rebel role which until recently belonged to the anti-Europeans.

The business of business schools

Article Abstract:

Business schools will have to define their proper position in industry if they plan to survive in the 21st century. Educators should determine the proper blend of funding projects, degree programs and research centers that can sustain the progress of their schools. Meanwhile, school administrators should seek input from both alumni and private sector companies. Academic assessment techniques should also be undertaken to acquire important information while defining the school mission.
