The forget meme not theory

Article Abstract:

Memes are skills, habits and ideas which are pased on and create cultures as well as minds. The notion was developed by Richard Dawkins when he sought to explain the work of Charles Darwin on evolution. Memes are spread through imitation, though they change as they are passed on. Memes interact with genes, and some memes, such as celibacy, can compete with genes. Memetics helps explain why harmful ideas can be powerful as well as good ideas. They can act like viruses in order to be copied, and their aim is simply to multiply.

A reader in Psychology believes that the problem of understanding consciousness lies in the simultaneous existence of subjective and objective experiences and how they relate to each other. Explaining what has become known as "the hard problem" has become more difficult as we have learned more about the physiology of the brain.
