UK races to find life under ice

Article Abstract:

An interdisciplinary consortium of 10 universities and institutions from the UK is to send a robot probe to one of the Earth's last unexplored regions, a subglacial lake covered by 3.4km of Antarctic ice. The aim of the project is to try and find life in such an extreme habitat and to conduct research into past climate changes.

Article Abstract:

An analysis fo Kathleen Walker-Meikle's study into the keeping of pets by people in the Middle Ages. It is contende that the keeping of small pets was widespread, if frowned upon in some quarters, and that for a man to keep a pet was regarded as a slur on his masculinity.
