The need for a common vision

Article Abstract:

A clear-cut goal unites the members of an organization and gives the group direction. A common vision becomes effective when leaders are able to guide the group towards achievement while members support this vision and do their share of work. The American Vocational Assn (AVA)'s goal involves the use of leadership to enhance vocational education and produce highly skilled workers. The organization must gear its efforts toward the realization of this goal especially now that the entire education community, including the vocational-technical sector, faces a time of change and development.

New year, new opportunities

Article Abstract:

Vocational educators and the American Vocational Assn (AVA) are challenged by the educational reforms expected with the Clinton administration. Awareness of the importance and availability of vocational-technical education should be increased among parents, students, businessmen and government officials. Vocational educators can extend their services, especially to government officials and lawmakers, by providing more information and services directly or through the AVA.

A matter of respect

Article Abstract:

Suggestions for reforms in teacher preparation programs across the US have not only come from outside the profession, but from inside as well. Vocational and technical teacher organizations have identified several areas of concern in their teacher preparation programs. However, substantial reforms in these areas can only be made through a concerted effort from the entire community of vocational teachers.
