When opportunity flees

Article Abstract:

Schools must begin restructuring their work-based learning programs to respond to the changing business climate. Programs, for instance, should not focus solely on 'high wage' occupations but on high skill, community building and capacity building workplaces. World-based learning opportunities can also be found in emerging industries such as plastics production, commercial printing and metalworking machinery.

Education for a new era

Article Abstract:

A new educational model which integrates work and learning will be essential in the 21st century. Reorganization of schooling strategies needs to recognize the importance of vocational-technical education along with academic education. Reforms are essential to keep in pace with the workplace demands and modernism. The educational system must act as the base for the career paths of the students.
