Article Abstract:

Issues relating to claims by further education colleges that they are able to tailor study to the needs of the individual are examined in the light of the UK government's continuing attempts to promote its agenda of widening participation in education. Gareth Parry, professor of education at Sheffield University, argues that the evidence base does not exist for claims by further education colleges that their differential approaches to learning make it easy for them to tailor their services and that a systematic study is needed to back up the claims.

Article Abstract:

Nottingham University has implemented a "step change" in its top academic salaries, with annual salaries for professorships now ranging from UKPd50,000 to UKPd100,000.
