Time to cast out voodoo therapy

Article Abstract:

Freudian psychoanalysis is a self-validating field of knowledge incorporating vague concepts and undemonstrable propositions. The indifference of the general public to psychoanalysis and opposition to an empirical stance help perpetrate the Freudian tradition. Freudian psychoanalysis ascertains that psychic wholeness can be achieved by working through the patient's repressed traumatic experiences. Recovered memory therapy is a highly dangerous treatment and is deemed by the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists to be professional misconduct.

Cheerful assassin defies analysis

Article Abstract:

Sigmund Freud had low ethical and scientific standards and this is evident from a study of his life. Some US scholars react angrily to such a portrait of Freud and there are economic interests at stake here. There is no scientific backing for Freud's ideas such as the Oedipus complex, and his framework lacks explanatory power. His ideas have caused damage through promoting fruitless research and false diagnoses. There is still support for his views and critics of Freud are savagely attacked.
