Trek through space to discover the wholly trinity

Article Abstract:

Tremendous advances have been made in computer graphics over the past four decades, but the Holy Grail of 3D photography continues to elude computer graphics researchers. A general method for automatically obtaining an accurate geometrical model of a scene from arbitrary photographs of it has yet to be discovered. However virtual reality research groups worldwide have pioneered interaction techniques that offer the promise of new ways of working with 3D models. Researchers would ideally like to be able to manipulate models in true 3D.

Fireworks in the space age

Article Abstract:

The number of UK students entering higher education is increasing rapidly, leading to greater pressure on space in college buildings. A report suggests that instead of building extra accommodation the existing space could be subject to charges, thereby increasing efficient use of facilities. Critics say that small amounts of spare space scattered throughout an institution would be of very little use. The information gained from analysing space requirements could be useful in future planning.
