Article Abstract:

In the four years since it was established, online encyclopaedia Wikipedia has, with over 1.4 million articles in over 195 languages, become the world's largest encyclopaedia. Wikipedia is based on the radical concept that anybody can edit or write any of its articles without having to offer credentials or register. While Wikipedia argues that this approach leads to accuracy, other contend that it simply results in an anti-elitist free-for-all and a tendency towards mediocrity.

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the level of censorship of academic work currently taking place in China and the dangers that any Western organisation faces if it wants to operate in China. The cases of a number of academics imprisoned for their work are detailed, while the difficulty that researchers can face in actually trying to pin down what the Chinese government could take exception to is also examined.
