Using Media: AV Educational Software Systems

Article Abstract:

AV Systems, Inc. has developed a software system in which programs are written in BASIC, making them open, listable and copyable. The design of these programs allows the use of program components in other program. BASIC RAM Database, the first of these programs, is a database system which works in RAM. This system contains several analysis routines not found in DOS. The manual provides information which allows beginning programmers to quickly use the system. The entire kit costs $50.

The problem of sexism in textbooks and other educational media has long been apparent to educators. The role of teachers is vital in working towards the elimination of role discrimination in history and social studies curricula. Although much has been accomplished in this area of education, there are problems that still need to be addressed.
