Which way does your monkey swing?

Article Abstract:

Biologist Bruce Bagemihl points out homosexuality in animals is very evident in both domesticated and wild animals. Although Bagemihl admits he is gay he claims his book is not to be seen as an excuse for homosexuality in humans. The book, 'Biological Exuberance, is the product of ten years research into homosexuality among animals. Bagemihl points out he is not suggesting homosexual behaviour in animals is relevant to human behaviour. Critics have suggested Bagemihl has not successfully supported his claim 'biological exuberance' is a substitute to the quest for reproduction in animals.

Mexican stand-off

Article Abstract:

An estimated 1,000 students have been in occupation of the National Autonomous University, Mexico, for nine months. The strike started after the university authorities announced they intended to raise fees by a few pence to around 100 pounds sterling per year. The striking students also wanted time restrictions for attending university to be scrapped. Many of the students are opposed to the strikes and the former rector of the university has resigned. In Jan 2000 the federal police moved on to the campus, taking 100 students to prison. Many people were hurt and one student was killed.
