Whole-school learning reform: Effective strategies from Thai schools

Article Abstract:

Four selected strategies that are drawn from 135 schools that engaged in a research and development project to reform their teaching/learning from teacher-centered to learner-centered through a whole-school approach are presented. The four strategies are provision for continuous internal supervision, exchanges of ideas and experiences, encouragement of community participation, and dissemination of innovations.

Leading educators' relearning in a post-Soviet country

Article Abstract:

The University of Latvia, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Science, launched a program of professional development for teacher educators. The content, context, motivation, uncertainties and application of educators' learning and relearning, as they tried to create a learning community at the university level, to help teachers re-create a learning community in schools, are discussed.

Leading for learning: Reflective management in EFL schools

Article Abstract:

A school-based reflective management (SBRM) model is introduced for schools that teach English as a foreign language (EFL). The model centers on creating a learning community where all changes involve reflective learning and growth for students, teachers, and principals, with three distinctive concepts of learning, teaching and leading, which are mutually supportive.
