Would-be contract killers

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom labor unions are campaigning against the casualization of employment in universities. Fixed-term contracts are increasingly common. Staff are often forced to sign away labor rights when they accept one of these contracts. Over 43% of staff in higher education are employed under hourly or fixed-term contracts. Labor unions argues that women and ethnic minorities are adversely affected. Labor unions are to focus on waiver clauses which may be banned by the government except where they are used to avoid redundancy payments.

Dissent of man on ape art

Article Abstract:

It is very difficult not to see paintings by monkeys as art, according to Belgian art historian Thierry Lenain, even though it is clear that they are not art. There are close links between paintings by monkeys and paintings by humans, and for this reason monkeys are often seen as some form of artist. However, he feels that paintings by monkeys cannot provide information about the origins of art, and are only informative about how monkeys like to amuse themselves.

Chants would be a fine thing

Article Abstract:
