Issues relating to the importance of philosophy in modern society and specifically in modern political society are examined from the point of view that the adoption of a philosophical attitude allows for the recognition of the layers of meaning and implication in an argument and how an argument is made and that this recognition is critical to the maintenance if a rational democracy.
