A/V hard disc permits image editing without computers

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd's NV-HDD1 Disc Creative Station editing machine is equipped with a 20GB audio/video hard disc that enables the machine to edit digital images without using a personal computer. The NV-HDD1, which sells for $1,869, can accomodate 80 minutes of moving images and display captured images in multiple windows on a TV screen. Its functions include instant random access, noise-free searches, video and audio insertion, mixing and dubbing and Super Liner slow modes.

Resistive film touch panels find favor in consumer electronics

Article Abstract:

Touch panels are being put to use in different fields of electronic industry including the automatic teller machines and ticket vending machines. The technology involved and the advantages touch panels provide is discussed. The history of touch panels dates back to the 1970s. One kind of touch panel that evolved in the 1980s is the resistive film system. Also known as the matrix system, the technology of this system is discussed in detail.

In Touch panel field, hardware waits for software to catch up

Article Abstract:

Touch panels are display systems that users operate using a finger or a pen or a simple device. Electronic equipments imbedded with these touch panels include automatic teller machines (ATMs), personal digital assistants (PDAs). The different types of touch panels such as resistive film system, optical system, analog capacity coupling system, ultrasonic systems, and their features are discussed.
