Department of Homeland Security (DHS) conducted a oNational Preparedness Montho to make people aware of Public Alert products. Public Alert is run by federal government agencies to warn people about Amber Alerts, chemical spills, forest fires etc apart from weather alerts. These get activated even when the product is not powered on.
