Demand for video cameras in FY2000 exceeds expectations

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd expects global demand for video cameras to rise higher than 4% than previously projected to 11.23 million units in 2000. The revised estimate resulted from stronger sales outside Japan. For North America, demand has been raised from 5 million to 5.25 million units. Demand in Europe has also been modified from 2.5 million to 3 million units. Demand from other areas of the world excluding Japan has been pegged from 1.45 million to 1.53 million units.
