The field of semiconductor audio is increasingly becoming popular due to the emergence of MP3 players. Semiconductor audio pertains to portable audio players with small memory cards for recording music. The sound quality of semiconductor audio is not excellent because the music signals are compressed but they offer convenience to music listeners. Semiconductor audio products have five elements, namely, the flash memory; the digital sound processing unit; the digital-analog converter; the analog processing section; and the control and operation section.

Production of stereo equipment surges in Japan

Article Abstract:

Total production of stereo equipment in Japan continued to grow in the first four months of 1999 in terms of volume and value. Total volume unit jumped by 32.9% to 796,000 sets while value soared 48.2% to 25.086 billion yen during the period. In 1998, production volume jumped by 50.4% to 2.4 million sets while value leaped by 56.5% to 67.165 billion yen. Most of the gain in value has been attributed to the increasing production of systems incorporating MiniDisc players.
