Face recognition: the oldest way to verify ID is now the newest

Article Abstract:

TrueFace, developed by Wellesley, MA-based Miros, is the first practical human identification product to use face recognition technology. Previous face recognition products have relied on large computers and software programs. TrueFace, in contrast, is based on low-cost off-the-shelf products such as PCs, low-end Unix workstations, local-area networks, and video/key pad terminals.

Positive identification using infrared facial imagery

Article Abstract:

Technology Recognition Systems is working with infrared facial-recognition technology (IR-FRT) in an effort to develop computer security and commercial access-control systems. Every human face has different physiological characteristics, and those give each person a unique thermal signature, as determined by infrared imaging. The viability and benefits of IR-FRT are discussed.
