From sound to imaging, Yamaha expands its home theater business

Article Abstract:

Yamaha Corp launched at Audio Expo 2000 in Tokyo, Japan, a total home theater system that combines cinema digital sound-field processing and digital light processing (DLP). According to Yamaha Managing Dir Kumihiro Maejima, the company aims to propose to the market worldwide total solutions in the area of home theater through the development of imaging equipment. Maejima says the DLP projector Yamaha introduced at the expo is the company's first product on this line.

PLS-550 home theater system

Article Abstract:

Teac Corp introduces its latest PLS-550 home theater system that comprises an audio/video (A/V) amplifier, five-channel satellite speakers and a sub- woofer. The A/V amplifier measures 275 x 360 x 126 mm. Also, the company offers its S-110 speaker system that features a full-scale two-way system is composed of 5-cm tweeters and 13-cm woofers. The woofers employ paper cones for more natural sound. The S-110 carries a price of $91.

Pioneer plans aggressive marketing of home theater systems

Article Abstract:

Pioneer Corp prepares for an intensified sales promotion of its home theater systems in 2001. The firm's home theater systems are based on its optical technologies, namely DVD products and plasma display panels. According to Hiroaki Matsubara, in charge of overseas audio/video (A/V) product sales, the company's A/V lineup centers on its optical technology- based products, such as DVD players and DVD discs.
