Global wafer shipments jump by 10%

Article Abstract:

According to the SEMI Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG), the worldwide silicon wafer is shipments increased by 10 percent in 2003 when compared to 2002 figures. The Silicon Manufacturers Group acts as an independent special interest group within the SEMI structure and is open to all SEMI members involved in manufacturing polycrystalline silicon, monocrystalline silicon or silicon wafers not including reclaimed wafers.

Global chip sales hits $166.4 billion

Article Abstract:

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reported the worldwide sales of semiconductors at $166.4 billion in 2003, which was up by around 18.3 percent in global revenue reported in 2002. In addition the global consumer electronics markets, driven by seasonality and buoyant worldwide consumer demand also grew quickly during 2003's final quarter.
