JVC gets digital-ready

Article Abstract:

JVC unveiled the latest in its D-Series television line and digital video disc (DVD) players with DIVX at a show in Orlando, FL, in Apr 1999. The D- Series line comes in three screen sizes, with all models featuring two A/V inputs, an S-VHS and component video input for digital devices. The D- Series also features BBE technology, an audio function that allows higher frequencies to reach the viewers' ears first. The DVD player, designated model XV-DX1BK, is JVC's first DIVX-enhanced DVD player.

New models to hit spring market

Article Abstract:

New models of digital video disc players were introduced by manufacturers in the spring of 1999. Victor Company of Japan has launched its DIVX-ready XV-DX1BK DVD player, which also features circuit construction that enhances both audio and video. Matsushita has introduced its second generation DVD-L50 portable LDC PalmTheater player, while Sharp launched its DV-A1000U "Ampitheater-in-a-Box" DVD player with built-in 240-watt amplifier/receiver, five speakers and an active sub-woofer.

Lithium ion moves toward critical mass

Article Abstract:

Battery makers have introduced their latest line of lithium ion and nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries. Duracell launched its line of lithium batteries for cameras with size that ranges from 123, 223, 245 and CR2 sizes. Othew new entries are Belkin's F8V575-900LI-VB lithium ion cellular phone battery pack, Energizer's CXP3336-B lithium ion battery and CP3136 D lithium ion battery and Maxell's NiMH AA set of batteries.
