How will open access affect system reliability?

Emerging energy technologies will open up wholesale electricity markets without adverse effects on power plant operations. This revealed in a panel interview of 12 electric utility executives and representatives of the North American Electric Reliability Council.

Several electric utilities are already planning to migrate from mainframe to client-server computing. They are advised to consider the costs entailed by such a shift and take note that client-server is a new technology that has not been thoroughly tested.
