Merchant power takes the Northeast by storm - but for how long?

Article Abstract:

Analysts are starting to believe that a supply-and-demand imbalance and shakeout in the Northeast US is forthcoming. Resource Data International of Boulder, CO, specifies over 12,000 MW of proposed new merchant capacity in the region. Moreover, some Northeast firms are proposing more plant auctions.

Electric utility crews sent off to repair storm damage are equipped with heavy equipment, plenty of warm dry clothes, chain saws and heavy-duty vehicles. They are more inspired to work when all their personal needs are provided by fellow workers and helpful residents.
