Mitsubishi Electric responds to tight supply of MCPs

Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi Electric Corp plans to raise the percentage of its multiple- chip modules (MCPs) for cellular phones incorporating 8M-bit SRAM and 64M- fit flash memory to about 50% relative to the company's overall production of MCPs. The company believes that the semiconductor market has been undergoing a patchy recovery since Sep 2000. It has been making investments to increase production of flash memories, system LSI chips, SRAMS, radio-frequency devices and optical devices.

Hitachi opens chapter on write methods for flash memories

Article Abstract:

Hitachi Ltd of Japan will focus its development of flash memories on large-capacity write technologies that are intended for digital still cameras and other future digital audio-visual devices. In Apr 1999, the company started mass-producing 256M-bit flash memories using multiple- value technology. It hopes to roll out a single-chip product integrating its 256M-bit flash memory within the year.

Hitachi pins hopes of F-ZTAT SH device families

Article Abstract:

Hitachi Ltd is increasing the production of its microprocessors equipped with zero-turn-around (ZTAT) flash memories. The F-ZTAT Micon series of microprocessors have a strong demand as built-in devices for electronic household appliances, CD-ROM and DVD drives and vehicles. In 1998, the company doubled the monthly production of F-ZTAT Micons to 4 million, and intends to re-double it in 1999.
