Matsushita envisions new applications for DVD technology

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd is proposing new applications for DVD technology to further expand the markets for DVDs. The company has recently launched the DVD-A770, which features a 10-bit video D/A converter and a 96-Hz/24-bit audio D/A converter for output of all six channels for both Dolby Digial and linear PCM with a high definition of 24 bits. The model also features other functions such as a speaker mode setting based on the low-frequency capacity of speakers, speaker level ajdustment by generation of test noise and delay time controls.

Toshiba's newest DVD players emphasize improved image, sound quality

Article Abstract:

Toshiba Corp has launched its latest lines of DVD-Video players in Asia, Europe and the US. The company has three basic models for the US market: the high-end SD3108, the mid-end SD2108 and the lower-cost SD2008. Toshiba introduced the high-end SD-K320 for the Asian market, which is compatible with DVDs, CDs, Video CDs and karaoke discs. The two models launched for the European market were the solid-state SD3107B and the portable version of the product.

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd is positioning its DVD players as audio products to cope with the ever-increasing number of DVD players being sold in the market. The company's DVD product line range from standalone players to audio-video composite products. It also offers audio system in five categories, namely, simple home cinemas; all-in-one home cinemas; set home cinemas; micro home cinemas; and component home cinemas.
