One-Brand Bonanza to Power Rejuvenated Audio Engine in '84

Article Abstract:

One brand rack system's sales grew thirty-one percent in 1984 and should show a 15.3 percent growth in 1984, reaching $421.9 million. Rack systems at the low end sport better cosmetics than ever and at the high end are more likely to incluude compact disc players than before. Although rack systems are increasing market penetration, sales of receiving separates should grow over four per cent in 1984. Sales of CD hardware are projected to reach almost $100 million.

Watch Out Digital Discs: Here Comes Floppy Audio

Article Abstract:

A new company called CompuSonics plans to ship recordable floppy disks for audio. The company has introduced two systems which will allow consumers to make home digital recordings from analog or digital sources. The system will be compatible with conventional stereo components. The consumer systems will retail for almost $1,000 and the floppy disks for $6.

Audio Makers Making Major Move into Monitor Market

Article Abstract:

Audio manufacturers are entering the video monitor market. Suppliers such as Marantz, Denon, ADS and NAD predict that they will conquer up to ten percent of the market within five years. Most of the monitors will be sourced from other manufacturers.
