Optimize placement of in-plant power-factor correction capacitors

The Bonneville Power Administration has released a guidebook and software on power-factor correction. The guidebook and software are aimed at providing assistance to industrial power users who want to improve the power factor in their facilities by means of correction capacitors.

Line capacitors push voltage reduction to new levels

Article Abstract:

The Georgia Power Co implemented a 'Distribution Efficiency Program' to economically reduce system peak demand, and thus, lower their transmission and distribution line losses. They have installed capacitors along their distribution lines to maintain a nearly constant voltage.

Artificial intelligence improves power quality
