Price war: competition will turn regional power-price differentials upside down

An extensive model of a deregulated and restructured electric utility, developed by Mountain View, CA-based Decision Focus Inc., can foretell regional consumption, production and power prices. The model incorporates demand, capacity and transmission within 34 North American regions.

Training center pioneers PCS wireless telephones

Article Abstract:

Consolidated Edison Co. began using personal communication services in its training department and other areas in 1996. The new system allows flexibility of work by allowing workers to remain in touch with each other by mobile communications that cost less than cellular phones.

New, $11-million center expands call volume, pinpoints outages, kills busy signals

Article Abstract:

Detroit Edison Co's new customer communications center seeks to set the national standard for excellence. The center increased incoming lines from 288 to 1,536 and reduced customers' busy signals to zero. The center now focuses on improving customer satisfaction.
