Push switches

Article Abstract:

SMK Corp has unveiled a new lever-style push switch that is 25% thinner than other models. The switch is geared for use in cellular phones, digital cameras and other compact electronic devices. An extra contact point was added in each push direction to enable users to choose variable speeds for the lever direction. The switch is available in two versions with different shafts as well as one-piece version with a knob and another with a cap.

Alps spots opportunity in detection switches

Article Abstract:

Alps Electric Company Ltd of Japan will increase the production of detection switches from 60 million units monthly to 70 million units per month in 1999. The company is aiming to produce 100 million units monthly by 2002. To boost demand, Alps will be adding new models that have small ratings and low profiles. The company will also propose the use of detection switches for personal computer peripherals and automobiles.
