Recordable DVD: a format with a twist

Article Abstract:

Consumer electronics manufacturers are planning to improve DVD technology by developing recordable DVD. The problem, however, is the existence of at least four competing formats, namely, DVD+RW, DVD RAM, DVD-RW and DVD with a twist. Philips, Pioneer, Samsun, Hitachi and Panasonic have announced their intentions to release recordable DVDs. However, only one, Philips, has been able to demonstrate compatibility of its format with existing DVD players.

DBS pitches Congress

Article Abstract:

DIRECTV Inc Pres Eddy Hartenstein and EchoStar Chmn and CEO Charlie Ergen met with Washington legislators in Nov 1999 to discuss their concerns regarding the revisions being made to the expired Satellite Home Viewer Act.
