Reviewing strategies, Matsushita tackles statis VCR market

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd is a leading VCR manufacturer with facilities in Malaysia, Germany, Taiwan, China, Brazil and Indonesia. The global VCR market is considered stagnant, posting 3% growth in Japan from 1997 to 1998 levels, is currently experiencing stable sales in Europe and the US while declining more than 10% in Asia. Matsushita has decided to keep up with market developments with the introduction of its D-VHS model. The new model is response to the advances in digital broadcasting and is also intended as a value-added product that will offer dealers sufficient profit margins.
