Sanyo subsidiary cultivates role as supplier of DVD loaders to player makers

Article Abstract:

Sanyo Electric (Shekou) Ltd is the Chinese subsidiary of Sanyo Electric Company Ltd, and manufactures electronic components, such as speakers, motors, printed circuit boards, wire harnesses, surface acoustic wave filters and deflection yokes. It also makes DVD players, minicomponents, radiocassettes and dictation machines. Half of its DVD output are exported to the US while the rest are shipped to the Asia-Oceania region. The only product that the company exports to the Japan is a DVD player used in the Vizon satellite TV broadcast service.

Sanyo PT (M) Sdn. Bhd

Article Abstract:

Sanyo PT (M) Sdn Bhd was established by Sanyo Electric Company Ltd in Malaysia in 1987 to manufacture audio equipment and cordless telephones. Since then, the company has implemented significant changes to cope with evolving market conditions. In 1999, for instance, the company shifted to manufacturing code division multiple access mobile telephones after cordless telephones became less competitive in the market. The move resulted in the increase of sales to more than 17 billion yen.

Sanyo eyes Y100 billion goal in personal telecom

Article Abstract:

Sanyo Electric Company Ltd announced that it expects its Personal Communications Div to attain sales of Y100 billion. The division, which was established five years ago has the second-largest market share for personal communications terminals in Japan, next to NTT DoCoMo. For 1999, the division assumes that 75% of its sales will be generated by mobile phones, 10% from Personal Handy Phone System terminals and slightly less than 10% from base station equipment.
